The lack of education and training about Afro hair within the barber and cosmetology curriculum is a glaring issue. Currently, education and training focus is primarily on straight haircare and styling, neglecting the specific needs and techniques required for Afro-natural hair. This omission leaves a fraction of licensed professionals and students ill-equipped to provide adequate care and styling for Afro hair.
In response to this gap in knowledge and skills, the Afro Hair Summit is taking a proactive approach to unite and recalibrate licensed barbers, cosmetologists, and natural hairstylists.
