Wonders of the Scalp: The Foundation of Afro Hair Care

Before there is hair to style, there is the scalp.
Explore the anatomy and function of the scalp and its vital role in the hair-growth process. Learn
how scalp knowledge strengthens professional decisions about cleansing, conditioning, products,
tools, techniques, heat, chemical services, and the ongoing care of the Afro hair fiber.

Third Class:

From Science to Service: Afro Hair Science Behind the Chair
Sunday, December 8 th 12:00-1:30 PM EST
Now put the science to work.
Bring together what you’ve learned about Coil Mechanics and Wonders of the Scalp and apply
that knowledge behind the chair. Strengthen assessment, consultation, hairstyling, product and
tool selection, service decisions, client education, case analysis, and professional referral.

Students will also explore how deeper knowledge can support service pricing, price increases,
and communicating value to clients—helping professionals understand not only what to charge,

but how expertise, time, complexity, product use, and professional judgment contribute to the
price of a service.
